What do you get when you put together Albert Hammond, Jr. [the Strokes], Josh Latanzi [Ben Kweller’s bassist on tour], Steve Schiltz [Longwave’s frontman], Matt Romano [Strokes drum Tech], and Marc Philippe Eskenazi [Medium Cool]. One hell of a rock show. This record can stand on it’s own but it may be even better live. It’s true and well known I have a weak spot for the Strokes (and I’ll even say the same for Longwave) however this only makes me more critical on Albert’s band. As my friends will joke it’s my typical statement when I enjoy a live band but these guys, “KILL IT”, at times reminiscent of the Beach Boys. It would be easy for me to say that, “they’re okay” and then ask when the Strokes are going to record new material and start touring again but honestly, I can wait if this is why I’m waiting…see video and set list below.

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily… Saturday was another extraordinary day for the temporary residents of Planet Bonnaroo, thanks to standout performances by Flaming Lips, Ween, Gogol Bordello, Franz Ferdinand and so many more. But one show towered above the rest: Hundreds of fans waited in line all day at the main stage or, “What Stage,” in ‘Roo parlance (as opposed to the Which Stage, That Tent, and This Tent), hoping to gain admission to the area closest to the feet of The Police. Finally, the gate was opened for these dedicated festival goers about 40 minutes before the legendary trio commenced their set. Rolling Stone talked with a few of these fans as the excitement was mounting…and mounting…and mounting. And, of course, we stuck around for the show as well

So the word on the subway is Jay-Z may leave Def Jam and start up a new label with his main squeeze, Beyonce. Do we have your attention?
New Label??? Where? Well, the answer is possibly Apple iTunes. With Jay’s contract with Def Jam nearing it’s expiration date and Beyonce most likely finishing up her album commitment with Sony by the end of the year. This could be good timing…
Keep in mind if Jay leaves Def Jam he has the option of taking all the artists he signed…(laughing) his other girlfriend: Rihanna, Ne-Yo (ghost writer to the max), Rick Ross, Kanye (um do we need to continue), and Nas (CLASSIC). Not to mention Beyonce being done with her deal can also be an artist.
